A majorpart of the land of S.H. convent Karukutty was inAttara near Edakkunnu for the purpose of agriculture there was a shed where three sisters lived. After that a small house was built and blessed on 4 th October 1970. According to the land Act of the government it was necessary forS.H. convent to divide its properties. Also according to 2 nd Vatican Concil it was necessary to limit the number of members in a community. So iwas an urgent need for S.H. convent to divide its members for above 100 members lived. Accordingly an application was submitted and the provincial council decided to start convent and to be named as Avila Bhavan. The foundation stone was laid on 29 th feb 1973 by Rev. Fr. Isayas C.M.I. Chaplain of S.H. convent, then new convent was blessed byJohn Narayanparambil on 13 th feb 1974 with 13 members. From that time onwards sisters were engaged in different activities of the people. They imparted moral values through prayer group, house visiting, family unit etc.this place was raised as a parish on 13 th May 2007. From that onwards sisters wholeheartedly participate along with the vicar and people. The people here are very concerned about the well being of the sisters.Now 10 members are here.Sr.Litty Grace is the present local superior.
