Chandrapur M.C.C-Glory of Chanda Diocese
Due to the insistence Bishop Januarius, Superiors decided to start the second mission house of Chanda diocese in Chandrapur. Srs. Modesta, Didimus, Dumshan and Nilus were the specially chosen ones of God to radiate His love and light in this area as the building blocks of the first community. When we were refugees in this place like Bl. Mary searching for a place to settle, it was the good will of Mr. Suchak that assisted us. It was a very generous gesture from the part of Mr. Suchak to give us a part his own residence to start our convent cum school and inaugurated on 30th June 1969. They gave a special room to offer Holy Mass and Bishop Januarius raised there a tabernacle for the Lord on 27th January 1970. They considered us as their own family members. The love and concern expressed by the Suchak family are beyond words. In 1971 a new land was purchased and 7th November foundation stone was put. The small baby school started at Suchak Niwas is a full pledged institution with 2600 students. Apart from teaching in the school sisters also serve in the parish. Chanda convent is a refuge for the sisters who come to the city with various purposes. Being a at the heart o chanda dioceses it also conduct various programmes of the diocese.
