Sr. Sibia CMC, Kothamangalam
Sr.Sibia , Born on January 6th 1941 as the first child of her God - fearing and affectionate parents, Devesia Paulose ( Vellappillil) and Mariakutty Varkey ( Kochumuttam). Baptismal name of the child was Mary (pet name Baby ). Vellappillil family belongs to the Parish of St.Marys Forane, Arakuzha the Diocese of Kothamangalam, Kerala.
On completing her High School studies (S.S.L.C) Mary joined C. M.C ( Congregation of the Mother of Carmel ). She made her final profession on May 1st 1964. After her religious formation she was sent to Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha for graduation in Physics. In 1963 she joined S.B College , Changanacherry for post graduation and took MSc degree in 1965. Immediately after the P.G Studies she was appointed as Lecturer in the Physics department of Newman College, Thodupuzha. She continued her service in the college ( as lecturer, professor and Head of the department) till her retirement in 1996, at age of 55. For 31 years she was on the staff of Newman College, Thodupuzha.
She has rendered her valuable service in the Congregation too in different capacities :- Junior Mistress 1965 to 1972, Provincial Councillor 1976 to 1979, Local Superior, Thodupuzha - 1979 to 1982, Provincial Superior 1985 to 1991, Asst.Provincial- 1997 to 2000, Local Superior , Muvattupuzha 2000 to 2003, General Councillor 2003 to 2009, Asst.Provincial 2009 to 2012.
Sr. Sibia is a perfect CMC with an anointing of the Holy Spirit. She is one with motherly affection and is fully dedicated to the Church and the Congregation. She has the ability to foresee things and has strong will power to face the problems. She is very sincere, hardworking and trustworthy. She always encourages the young ones at the same time correct them if it is necessary. She is also blessed with a skill for constructions. Sr. Sibia knows well the present situations before us and is able to react with a creative outlook. The good God bless her with all kinds of abilities and she is a Blessing to all of us.
