Sr. Rosalind CMC (General Council4)


Sr.Rosalind CMC was born in Tannittammakal family at Chittor in Kerala on 08.10.1946 as the first daughter of Varkey and Alikutty. She was baptized in Arakuzha parish and was given the name Mary. At the age of 10 she lost her beloved mother and then on she was brought up in her mother?s home at Arakuzha and the schooling was done from the maternal uncle?s house. As soon as she finished her SSLC she joined the CMC congregation of Kothamangalam Province. She took her religious profession on 15th April 1965. She completed her PDC in Newman College Thodupuzha and was sent to Holy Family Hospital Delhi for her further study, RNRM. She made her final profession on 30th May 1971. She was send to Mahuadanr as a member of the community on 8th june1971 and she served the tribal people of Chacchari valley and Sabag as a nurse. In 1974 she was appointed as the superior of Mahuadanr community. In1978-79 she did her diploma in Public Health Nursing in Kolkata and she was the gold medalist of the year. She was appointed as the superior of Godda in 1980-86 and Puranpani in 1986-87. She rendered her service as the Regional Councillor in 1987-89 and in 1989, she became the Regional Superior. During this time the Region was raised to the level of Province and she was nominated as the interim Provincial and the first synaxis was conducted under her leadership in 1995. She loved the Santals and selected her mission among them. She was the pioneer of the centre and served the people of the area in Tulbul, Mutathad and Patki for five years (1996-2001) and in 2001,she was again appointed as the superior of Mahuadanr. Sr.Rosalind was elected as the General Councillor in 2003 December and served the Congregation as the Councillor,in-charge of mission and social work. She was elected as the Provincial Superior of Carmel Mata province, Hazaribag in 2009 December and she is doing her best for the development of the Province.
