Sr. Angelus CMC (General Council1)
Sr.Angelus, daughter of Chembarathickal Varkey and Anna, was born on 28th January 1922 in the parish of Muthalakodam. She entered Carmel after passing Malayalam higher and took her first profession on 3rd May 1944. Her final profession was on 16th April 1950. She was elected as the first Provincial Superior of Pavanathma Province Kothamangalam in 1961 . She was able to find out new and fresh projects for the development of the province with courage and determination in the midst of problems and crisis.
She was one of the members of the Curia , who co-operated with Mar Hippolitus ,the appointed priest and leader for the process of the union of CMC. She committed her life in the services as novice mistress, General Councillor, Superior and director of Sanjoe, Karukutty. Mother Angelus , who was being tortured with many diseases, had gone to her heavenly abode on 1st January 2001. Mother, who found pleasure in contemplation for long hours was a perfect model for all sisters. Pleasant appearance, innocence, obligation to the will of God, generous heart, fully satisfied life, simplicity and availability were the genuine characteristics of Mother Angelus.
