Kurnool - Carmel Jyothi Region

Gods ways are unique and His plans for us are wonderful and fascinating. After a long waiting, God the almighty accomplished our deepest desire to start our mission in AP. This dream came in to reality through the prophetic vision of His Excellency Rt.Rev.Rajappa (late) who invited CMC Sisters through Fr. Kuncheria Medayil to start a house at Sirvel in Kurnool Diocese, AP. Having great missionary zeal and keen interest, the then Mother General Sr. Silvia CMC accepted the invitation of Bishop Rajappa the then Bishop of Kurnool. Our sisters from various provinces, Sr.Bertilla (Pala) Sr.Stanis (Pala), Sr.Amenda (Thrissur) stepped into AP soil on July 17th 1976.This rural Mission Station was developed by the great visionary, Rev. Fr. Kasken who toiled for the spiritual, physical, moral development of Sirvel.

We started a small dispensary as the beginning of our apostolic activities in this Mission Station. This house at Sirvel which was a residence under generalate was handed over to Ernakulum Province in 1978, when Mother Laetus was the provincial of Ernakulum Province. And we gratefully remember our dear sisters Sr.Candida, Sr.Lydia, Sr.Ida & Sr.Flory Maria who worked hard for the growth of this mission. It was the hard work of Sr.Giles (EKM)), Sr.Aurea (Agly), Sr.Betsy (Pushparam), Sr.Lydia (Pushparam )which expanded our mission to Pathikonda.

In order to widen our missionary activities, Bishop Rajappa invited us to begin a house at Pathikonda in Kurnool Diocese in the same year. It was during the time of Mother Borremeo in 1987, the Angamaly Province was bifurcated from Ernakulum Province & Andhra Mission was handed over to the Angamaly Province. Its starting was in 1975 with a small dispensary. The establishment of the convent was on 6 th November 1982 .  Now our Pathikonda mission has flourished with an Eng.Medium School having more than 1200 children.  As we are called to serve the poor an needy we have a new venture- save a family programme.  In order to uplift the women, sisters give due to importance to their all round development .  God was so merciful to us to extend our apostolic activities , to different areas of Kurnool Diocese.  23rd June 1992 , it was the day of great joy in the history of Marymatha Province because God the Almighty  blessed us to have a house  named  Puspha  Nivas  at  Yerraguntla.  We started Vimala Eng.Medium School on 1st June 1990 which had already  been started  at Sirvel and then shifted to Yerraguntla with the powerful support and encouragement of Rev.Fr.Marredy.  Now our institution is flourishimg  with 1200 children and 35 staff.  May it impart the raiys of  knowledge  and wisdom  to everyone  without any reservation.  We provide  hostel facilities too.

The revelation of  his great and  mysterious  plan to have a house at Amagampalle in Kadappa Diocese was initiated through Late Bishop Arulaiah and it was actulised by the instrumentality of  Rev.Fr. Rayappu Reddy  who  constantly helped us in the initial growth and development of this house.  It is mainly intended  for social work.  Sisters are so fervent in the Pastrol work  and are working in the Diocesan T.B Sanatorium .  The Gruhinis school which trains the young girls in tailoring and enables them to be ideal mothers in the future , is a blessing .  We are fortunate to have a house , Alwyn Mount Carmel at Nandalloor  in Kadappa Diosece. It was blessed by the Late.Bishop Arulaiah on 5th June 1996. An Eng.Medium school with 550 students is functioning well. The foundation stone of Carmel Jyothi the silver jubilee bequest of  our mission A.P was layed by our Late. Bishop Rev.Dr.Johannes Garantla .  His Excellancy prompted us to start a school at Dhone , Kurnool Diocese.  At present nearly 680 students are acquiring knowledge and wisdom from Sanjo Eng.Medium School.  Which was blessed on 20 th June 2006.

On November 14th 2008 our Superior General Rev.Sr.Edward declared our A.P. mission as Carmel Jyothi Region , with Sr.Anila as the Regional Superior,  Sr.Leema Mathew and Sr.Anu as the councillors  and Sr.Usha Grace as secretary and finance officer.  We are gratefully indebted to all those who have served the mission from the very beginning to right  now.  Three of our sisters are working at Vempalli and assisting Rev.Fr.John in all the Pastrol activities since 2008.Today  CMC Marymatha Province is proud of her daughter Carmel Jyothi Region as it has bloomed with 9 convents including Kaprassery, our recruiting house in Kerala .  As we are  lighted to lighten , this little lamp is pining to radiate  its rays to  every corner.

Lighted  by the lamp we have .....To the world we all must go
